Top Things To Know

1) Semifinals Tournament Record

Four seeds have reached the semifinals for only the second time in the tournament's 33-year history. In 2007, the first, third, fourth and eighth seeds made the semifinals. This year it's the third, fourth, seventh and eighth seeds.

 

2) Three-Peats Are Hard

As the Kansas City Chiefs learned, three-peats are rare in sports because they are difficult to accomplish. NowTaylor Fritzhas experienced the same thing. Having won the Delray Beach Open the past two years, Fritz was upset in this year's quarterfinal by eighth seedAlejandro Davidovich Fokina7-6(4), 7-6(5).

 

3) American Doubles On Fire

With Friday's win byRobert CashandJJ Tracy, seven of the eight players in the doubles semifinals are American: Cash, Tracy,Mackenzie McDonald, Alex Michelsen, Christian Harrison, Evan KingandBrandon Nakashima. The only non-American is Nakashima's partnerMiomir Kecmanovic. Cash and Tracy won the spring 2024 NCAA doubles title for Ohio State, and McDonald won it in 2016 for UCLA.

 

4) Wheelchair Showcase

Come out to watch high-caliber, local players showcase their Wheelchair Tennis skills on Saturday on the side courts of the Delray Beach Open. USTA Florida will be providing extra wheelchairs where fans can experience the difference between tennis standing and tennis on wheels. Training: 9:30-11:30 p.m. Showcase: Noon-2 p.m.

5) Fans Can Pose With New Tournament Trophy

The Delray Beach Open is debuting a new perpetual trophy this year designed by artist Patrick Pease, and fans can have their picture taken with it. The blue and yellow coral reef design reflects the colors of the tournament and the Delray Beach ocean vibe. Fans are welcome to stop by the Blue Gallery booth on site to take a photo with the trophy. Pease's other works are on display at Blue Gallery, the Official Art Gallery of the Delray Beach Open.
